What could be better than friendships? And what could be better than a gin that celebrates friendships? So this gin was created as a project by friends Jens and Max. They created a gin with blueberries (huckleberries). The result was the rather ingenious name "Huckleberry Gin", which, supported by the label, immediately reminds us of the friends Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. In 2017, the final recipe for Huckleberry Gin was found. With the active involvement of Jens and Max's circle of friends, of course. The gin is produced in the Black Forest by a family business with 30 years of distilling experience. The 22 botanicals are distilled three times. The berries in particular (mainly blueberries and raspberries) give the gin an unmistakable flavour. The botanicals harmonise very well with each other. All in all, a highly recommended gin that is great to drink with friends. Here's to friendship!
The fruity aroma of blueberries can be recognised as soon as the gin is poured. A rather unique flavour, but not artificial. After a short time, other flavours are noticeable and the slight spiciness of ginger. Logically, blueberries also play the main role on the palate. In the mouth, however, the cinnamon comes more to the fore, creating a slight tingling sensation on the tongue. The spicy and fresh notes (lemon, peppermint) make the gin more exciting. The juniper remains discreetly in the background. This great flavour also lingers in the finish. If you want to tease out the juniper note a little more, you can drink the gin neat on ice. For a gin and tonic, we recommend a Mediterranean tonic, as the blueberry flavour is further enhanced and the cinnamon note is retained. But an Indian tonic can also be a delight. The only thing that helps here is to try it yourself.
