Who let the dogs out? The beefy black bottle with the implied collar fits perfectly with a powerful bulldog. But what does this breed of dog have to do with gin? Well, the American investment banker Anshuman Vohra has great sympathy for gin and the former Prime Minister Winston Churchill. And when the banker decided to make his own gin, an allusion to Churchill provided the name. This is because the Prime Minister was repeatedly referred to as a bulldog due to his tenacity.
But is this gin really a tough dog? Probably not. The basis for this smooth gin is alcohol, which is made from English North Folk wheat. Then 12 botanicals are fermented and distilled in four stages.
On the nose, Bulldog Gin is not as harsh as it pretends to be. Juniper notes are clearly perceptible. This is followed by a slight freshness of citrus. This is similar on the palate. Floral accents round off the flavour and lend a certain elegance. Overall, the gin is smooth without losing its characteristic juniper flavour. A thoroughly appealing composition that does not disappoint on the finish.
