Neil Everitt and Bob Fowkes, the founders of Brockmans, wanted to create an exceptionally smooth gin. To this end, they gathered their wealth of knowledge and experimented with different recipes. After over 100 variations, analyses and improvements, the final recipe was created. It is limited to 11 botanicals. The base ingredient is juniper from Tuscany, which is supported by blueberries and blackberries from Northern Europe. The ingredients are macerated (soaked) in grain alcohol for 24 hours and then distilled in a 100-year-old copper pot still. This is done at the Langley distillery, as Bockmans does not operate its own distillery. This creates the typical flavour profile, which is very soft yet complex.
The first impression on the nose is characterised by berries. The dominant fruity notes are surrounded by fresh nuances of citrus fruits. What was apparent on the nose is confirmed on the palate. In the mouth, the fruity flavours of berries clearly predominate. The notes of juniper, liquorice and coriander can only be tasted in the background. A slight freshness of citrus fruits is recognisable. The gin spreads oily and very mild in the mouth. The flavours linger on the palate for a long time and leave a pleasant finish.
Overall, a very mild gin that is good to drink straight. The berry notes are not artificial and create a harmonious overall concept. Those who prefer juniper-flavoured gins should look for another brand. If you would like to try something new, Brockmans is the perfect choice.
